Breaking News

Breaking News

Recently, I was waiting for somebody in the lobby of a hotel in Boston, and sitting there on the table was this giant book called “The New York Times Front Pages: 1851 – 2016.” As its title says, the book features all the “important” pieces of news from the last 150 years. I browsed through the pages to discover something extremely interesting: All news is old news, and only the names change.

Go back in history and you will find the media promoting the same news only with different actors: same disasters, different locations; same crimes, different criminals; same cases of corruption, different politicians; same nuclear threats, different names to press the red button. News constantly change while life remains the same. News are created to bring fear today but nothing tomorrow. You don’t fear yesterday’s news, but only today’s. Remember that today’s news is tomorrow’s nothing. Why worry something so fragile and why fear something so transitory?

I stopped watching TV and reading the news 15 years ago. The only thing you will be missing when you stop following the news is your continuous anxiety about tomorrow. That’s all.

Disneyland

Disneyland

Walt Disney created Disneyland.

Together with his team, Walt dreamed the park into existence. They imagined the activities, designed the playgrounds, invented the stories, engineered the machineries. One day when they finished work, Walt saw that it was good, and handed the park to all children to enjoy. Walt’s spirit is present in Disneyland.

God created the Heaven and the Earth.

Together with Wisdom, they shined light into darkness, engineered the solar system, designed the times and the seasons, spilled galaxies and stars across the night sky, and imagined every life form moving on the face of the Earth. They brought rain from the clouds, and abundant life from the ground. God breathed life into our bodies, revealed His wisdom into our minds and poured His love into our hearts. One day when they finished work, God saw that it was good, and handed the Earth to His children to enjoy. God’s spirit is still present in the world.

If you believe in Walt Disney because you see his creation, why don’t you believe in God even if you see His creation?

Looking Behind

Looking Behind

The voices in the market say “forget the past, it is all gone, put it behind,” but the past can be your greatest teacher and source of comfort.

If you look behind with curious eyes, you see how many battles you have fought and won. How many tearful goodbyes, how many times you’ve suffered lost and you still summoned up the courage to open your heart and love again. How many times you’ve been betrayed and still were powerful and true to give others one more chance and then another more. Of course you made mistakes, as we all do, but you were loved to be forgiven and set free to begin anew.

The past, when looked upon with gentle eyes, will help you get through what you’re struggling with today. This too shall pass.

I love you.

The Unshakable Foundation

Your Unshakable Foundation

Having an unshakable foundation in your life means to live grounded and at peace regardless of your circumstances. What is your foundation? What is the rock upon which you build you life? What do you fall upon when everything falls apart around you?

Entrepreneurs struggle with depression when their companies fail. Artists live with heartbreak and pain when their creations are not recognized. Most people give up on their dreams when the trials of life and the storms of reality beat hard against them. When everything crumbles and things fail to work, what do you fall upon? The answer to this question will spare you from heartache, save your health and your life. Some years ago I founded my startup company. Before I did any work on the business, I wanted to make sure I build everything on an unshakable foundation. For that, I asked myself one question: “If everything I do fails, if I end up with nothing after going on this journey, what is it the one thing that I want to have left? What do I value so much that I want to keep if everything else goes away?”
To me the answer was immediate: regardless of what happens in my life, I want to keep my relationship with Jesus Christ pure. This became my foundation on which I build everything even today. Knowing this answer gave me the freedom to create a company without any fear, because I knew that no matter how things turn out, I will be fine. Jesus Christ must be your foundation and the rock upon which you lay your mind, your heart and your life.

The Jailer and The Prisoner

The Jailer and The Prisoner

What do you see when you look at a prison house from high above? There are brick walls, and iron gates and metal doors dividing the prison building into two: on one side are the guards and on the other the condemned.

The guards seem free and the inmates seem locked up, but in reality they live together in the same dark world. Neither can be free at will unless the other will escape as well. The jailer is not free because he spends day after day in the same place keeping his eyes on the condemned. When you look at a prison from above you truly realise the jailer and the prisoner share the same bleak world.

This is what Jesus Christ meant when he said: “Judge not and you will not be judged, for with the same judgement that you judge you will be judged.” You cannot be free in truth unless you give forgiveness unto all. When you deny forgiveness, your anger and resentment slam the prison door with you in chains on the inside. You might think that you judge and the other is condemned, but in reality you share the same dark and hurtful world.

Who must you forgive today?
Forgive and walk out into freedom.
